Summary:

Resource allocation importance in wireless networks has increased in the last few
years. In this study we propose a new PHY-MAC Cross-Layer system
architecture which aims at maximizing the channel utilization while maintaining
modularity of design and respecting QoS constraints. We also provide an efficient
algorithm based on the proposed architecture. Moreover, two new mathematical
models for resource allocation are devised. The proposed design, algorithm and
models fit for a wide range of wireless networks such as 4G and cognitive radio
networks.
