Consultant for Ministry of Public Work and Water Resources, Main System Management Project (MSM), Cairo, Egypt. This is a data collection system for River Nile Irrigation System. It includes about 600 remote data collecting units, 20 directorates, and 2 master stations. The project was funded by US AID and the US Consultant firm was Harza Engineering Co. (July 86 August 89). • Co-designer of a fully electronic computer controlled branch exchange (CBX) for (EOIP), Cairo, Egypt. Also working in other projects including TV firmware, data acquisition systems, communication systems over power lines. EOIP is a leading company in Egypt in the field of system design. It has designed and developed an automatic meter reading (AMR) system for electricity distribution companies. (1986 1990). • Consultant for AGIBA Petroleum Co. (Through EOIP team) in establishing a network for its inshore and off sure sites. In addition to basic consultancy services, the duties include study of available technologies, and cost analysis of the different alternatives. The network is for data and voice. The project was design and implemented based on VSAT technology and Frame Relay technology (1998 – 2000). • Member in a team of university professors that designed and implemented the first Egyptian KWAM automatic reading system, (AMR) for Energy Distribution companies. The system has been deployed in Alexandria, Upper Egypt, and Suez Canal region (1996-2001). • Consultant for Cairo University for the main Campus Telephone Networks. Among the activities; Upgrading Cairo University main exchange in 2005. Replacement of Faculty of Engineering PBX, main campus and Sheik Zaied Branch. The new systems support both circuit switching and IP telephony. Similar projects for other Cairo University Faculties such as the school of Medicine is on going .(2001-Current). Former Director of National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
- Senior Member (SM) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), (S83, M84, SM92) Information Theory and Communications Societies. - Co-founder of the Scientific Society of Telecom Engineers (SSTE) in 1986, and member of the board of directors since that time. SSTE is an NGO society that cares about the Telecom sectors technical problems and skills of its engineers. It holds monthy seminars about the new technologies, telecom services and policies as well as its impact on the society.
