According to the website of Stanford University Engineering - dated 25th July - Professor Abbas EL-GAMAL has been named as the new Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering as of 1st September. Professor EL-GAMAL has graduated from the EECE Department at Cairo University in July 1972, and is an IEEE Fellow, and has recently received the prestigious Shannon Award.

It is great honor for the EECE Department to see one of its graduates be in charge of one of the top schools in electrical engineering worldwide. We all wish Professor EL-GAMAL continued success and achievement in his new responsibility, and look forward to see more EECE Graduates achieving such prominence and international recognition.
