Summary:

In this thesis, the different channel estimation techniques for OFDM systems are
examined and applied to the mobile WiMAX wireless standard. A novel
estimation technique is proposed for the WiMAX case. A minor modification in
the WiMAX pilot pattern is proposed to improve the error rate of the system.
Efficient hardware architecture is built for the proposed algorithm. The
implemented architecture is able to cope with different wireless standards other
than WiMAX. The architecture satisfies the timing requirements for the WiMAX
system.
